Mosowood is constructed from bamboo which is technically a giant grass that has been around for 200 million years. After growth before harvesting, bamboo is denser and stronger than traditional hardwoods and replaces itself every 5-6 years providing food, employment and housing to the workers involved in the process. The patented stranding process creates a beautiful durable product from a growth and harvesting process that is sustainable and renewable.

Part of the success of bamboo is its capability to be naturally coloured. From a process called carbonization, Mosowood is naturally coloured by heat and steam burning the natural plant sugars, somewhat like “caramelising” in food cooking. This is a random process ensuring that no two boards, ply’s, veneers, decks or doors are exactly the same, just like traditional hardwood. As a natural product there will always be slight variations in colour and texture. This naturally occurring phenomenon ensures that any floor or product is truly unique.
